Gumroad sales to dashboard
Your Gumroad sales, with the referrers that caused them.
Download your sales CSV from Gumroad, drop it here, and you get net revenue after the platform fee, a referrer breakdown that shows which link actually earned the money, and free downloads counted separately from paid sales so a viral free product does not make your revenue chart look flat.

Free products are the thing that breaks this file
Almost every Gumroad seller has at least one free product, a lead magnet or a sample chapter. Those downloads land in the same sales CSV with a Price of 0, and there can be a lot of them. A file that is eighty percent free downloads gives an average sale price near zero and a conversion story that makes no sense, which is why the first thing this page does is split paid from free and count them separately.
The referrer column is the other reason to bother with the export at all. Gumroad's own analytics show you referrers, but not joined to the fee or the country. Here the referrer sits next to Net, so you can see that the Hacker News spike brought a thousand free downloads and eleven sales, while the newsletter brought sixty visitors and thirty sales. That is a different decision about where to spend next week.
How to export from Gumroad
- Open your Gumroad dashboard Sign in at gumroad.com and go to the Sales tab in the top navigation. This is the seller view, not the library.
- Set the date range Use the filter at the top of the sales list. Gumroad defaults to a recent window, and a lead-magnet-heavy store looks very different over a quarter than over a week.
- Click Export The export control is at the top right of the sales table. Gumroad prepares a CSV of everything matching the current filter, products included.
- Collect the emailed link The file arrives by email at your Gumroad account address rather than downloading directly. It is usually there within a minute.
- Drop the CSV here Product Name and Referrer become breakdown chips, and the paid-against-free split appears in the summary strip.
If you sell memberships as well as one-off products, the Recurring Charge column marks renewals. Filtering it out gives you new sales only, which is the number most people mean when they say sales.
Try with sample Gumroad data (the same columns, 92 rows, no upload needed).
What the dashboard shows
Every panel below is built from a column that is actually in the export, named the way Gumroad names it.
- Net revenue over time. Sale Time as the axis and Net as the value, so the platform cut is already gone from the line.
- Paid against free. Two counts, side by side. A free product with ten times the volume of a paid one is normal and should not be hidden.
- Referrer ranking. direct, a newsletter, a social platform, an aggregator. Ranked by net revenue rather than by traffic, which reorders the list dramatically.
- Product and variant mix. Product Name against Variant, so a team licence tier that outsells the standard one is visible immediately.
- Discount code effectiveness. Discount Code as a group-by against net, which tells you what a launch code cost against what it brought.
- Country spread. Two-letter codes mapped, useful mostly for deciding whether a purchasing power parity discount is worth setting up.

Gumroad export details that matter
- Free downloads are sales rows. Price 0, fee 0, net 0. They belong in a download count, not in an average order value, and there are often far more of them than paid sales.
- The fee is not a flat percentage. Gumroad's cut plus payment processing varies by how the buyer arrived, so a computed rate wobbles between rows. Use the Net column rather than assuming a rate.
- Referrer is a bare host. You get the domain, not the full URL or a campaign parameter, so two different posts on the same site are indistinguishable.
- direct covers a lot of sins. Email clients, apps and anything stripping the referrer header all land in direct, which is usually the largest bucket and the least informative.
- Recurring charges look like new sales. A membership renewal is its own row. Counting rows as customers double counts every renewing member.
- Refunded is a flag, not a negative row. The money is still in Price and Net on the original row, so filter on the flag before totaling if you want revenue you kept.
Split paid from free, trust Net, and read the referrer table by revenue rather than by count. Those three habits turn a noisy file into the clearest signal a small creator business gets.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my average sale price almost zero?
Free products. Every free download is a row with Price 0, and for most sellers those outnumber paid sales several times over. Averaging across all rows drags the figure toward zero and tells you nothing. This page counts free downloads separately and computes averages over paid rows only, which is the number you were actually asking for.
How much does Gumroad take?
The Gumroad Fee column tells you per sale rather than as a fixed rate, because the deduction depends on payment processing and how the buyer arrived. That is why the dashboard reads Net directly instead of applying an assumed percentage. Summing Fee against summing Price gives you your real blended rate for the period, which is often a little higher than the headline figure.
Can I tell which link earned the money?
To the level of the domain, yes. The Referrer column carries the host a buyer came from, so newsletter traffic, an aggregator spike and social posts separate cleanly. What you do not get is the specific page or a campaign tag, and anything that strips the referrer header lands in direct. Ranking referrers by net revenue rather than by count is where this gets genuinely useful.
Do membership renewals show up as new sales?
They show up as rows, with the Recurring Charge column set to true. If you count rows you are counting renewals as new customers. Filter that column to false for a new-sales view, or leave it in and group by it to see how much of the month was recurring against new, which for a maturing membership is the interesting split.
How are refunds handled?
Gumroad sets a Refunded flag on the original sale rather than writing a negative row, so a naive total includes money you gave back. The dashboard treats a refunded row as revenue reversed and shows both gross and net-of-refunds figures. The refund rate by product is worth a look, since a single product driving most of the refunds is usually a description problem.
Is the buyer email list uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing happens in your browser and nothing is transmitted. A Gumroad export is essentially a customer list with purchase history attached, so it is exactly the kind of file that should not be pasted into a random web tool. Here there is no server to paste it into. Close the tab and it is gone.
